Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev claimed his initial trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging season, managing just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's varied form on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him exiting of the top ten and finally separating with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now training with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of 2023.

The win also signifies he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his previous six finals, comprising in that event in the past months.

The player's defensive play style and regular reactions on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

He fought back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five points to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to push for a decider.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive third set before the champion broke to that score to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner earned the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent incapable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
